Spanish banking giant Santander is gearing up for a global rollout of its cutting-edge, cloud-based in-house technology platform. Initially set to debut in the US and Mexico later this year, Santander aims to revolutionize its retail and commercial banking operations worldwide.
The ambitious initiative is spearheaded by Swati Bhatia, the former head of Goldman Sachs’ Marcus, who has been tapped to lead Santander’s digital-first retail strategy in the US.
Earlier this year, Santander outlined plans to launch its Openbank digital offering, leveraging this innovative tech platform. The bank views the US as a strategic launchpad, with plans to extend the system across its global footprint.
Executive chair Ana Botin shared with Reuters: “Our goal is to build a common platform for our retail and commercial business, using our own technology. It is coming together in the US this year, but we’ll be slowly, but steadily rolling it out across our footprint.”
With this strategic move, Santander aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and stay ahead in the competitive digital banking landscape. The new platform promises seamless integration, greater scalability, and enhanced digital services for Santander’s global clientele.
Stay tuned as Santander takes a significant leap forward in its technological journey, setting new standards in the banking industry.
